Establishing a Good Contact Lens Fit

It starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure the most up-to-date prescription and rule out any  pre-existing conditions that could interfere with contact lens wear.

Fitting lenses to your lifestyle
We will determine the best fitting lens based on your lifestyle needs and the shape and health of your eye. In most cases, you’ll have the opportunity to try lenses on the same day as your exam. You can even go home with a few samples before making a final decision.

Follow up fittings
We follow up the initial fitting to make any necessary changes in fit or materials to get you the best possible fit. We teach all our patients proper contact lens care and also possible consequences if proper care is not taken. Then we continue with long-term follow-up to monitor the condition of the lenses and that proper hygiene is being maintained.

We also specialize in hard-to-fit contact lens patients and employ over 300 types of contact lenses on a regular basis.

SOFT LENSES (HYDROGEL)

Soft lenses require almost no physical adaptation. For most individuals, full-time wear is achieved quickly and effortlessly. They have, in addition, become the standard for contact lens wear in sports, since these lenses are difficult to dislodge and don't easily allow for dust to get underneath. Available in dozens of materials and even more designs, soft lenses can correct the vast majority of eye prescriptions. They are available in both daily and extended wear (overnight) options.

RIGID LENSES (GAS PERMEABLES)

As the name implies these lenses are firm and do not contain water. Hard materials take a somewhat longer time to adapt to than soft, but once that is accomplished, they can be worn with comfort and safety by most individuals. Rigid lenses offer the benefits of maximum optical performance and ease of care. They can be designed in virtually any size, shape, and prescription. We currently employ well over a dozen materials in our unlimited array of gas permeable lens designs, selecting each based on our patients' needs.

HYBRID LENSES

These lenses have a hard lens center attached to a peripheral soft skirt. The concept is one of rigid lens optics with soft lens comfort.

DISPOSABLE CONTACT LENSES

Since 1986 our office has been involved in the development and introduction of disposable lenses. Disposability is mostly a soft lens concept, since hydrogel lens types generally soil and deteriorate more rapidly than rigid lenses. Many designs and materials are now available with "disposability" options. We currently offer daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual contact lens replacement programs.

SPECIALTY LENSES

We offer many other contact lens options including bifocal contact lenses, custom designed lenses, cosmetic (or colored) lenses, Orthokeratology (myopia control) lenses, aphakic contact lenses for cataract patients, and color deficiency lenses.

SPECIALTY NEEDS

Keratoconus Our vast experience in managing Keratoconus, along with continuing advances in contact lens options and design, allow us to achieve extraordinary success for patients with this visually challenging condition. We work on a regular basis with customized soft lens options, the latest hybrid designs as well as the newest entry, scleral lenses. These afford more comfortable contact lens wearing hours while delivering the quality of vision necessary for work and play.

Dry Eye If you suffer from dry eye and have found your ability to wear contact lenses diminished or have even discontinued lens wear completely, don't despair! With new materials and designs dedicated to controlling dry eye symptoms, we may have you back in lenses at the very least for your social and weekend needs and, perhaps, even more. As a result of our research and consulting role, we are privileged to have early and ongoing access to the newest contact lens brands dedicated to reducing contact lens related dryness.

Disfigured Eyes Have you suffered trauma or damage to your cornea or iris from surgery or disease? Through our comprehensive prosthetic evaluation and fitting services we can help! Employing innovative new soft contact lens technologies allows us to restore the appearance of one or both eyes to an extraordinarily natural state. We partner with custom contact lens laboratories and utilize the most current lens materials to tint and fabricate lenses in all colors, sizes and prescriptions (when required).

ORTHOKERATOLOGY

These lenses, worn while you sleep, gently reshape the cornea to allow you to be eyeglass and contact lens free in the morning and throughout the day. They are ideal for children and adults who participate in sports and other activities where the most natural and comfortable vision is desired.

SPECIAL EFFECT THEATRICAL COSMETIC CONTACT LENSES

Custom made contact lenses are available for actors to enhance eye color or to substantially alter the color or shape of an eye. We can provide technical support "on set" to supervise the insertion, removal, and care of these devices.

We Now Fit Custom Sclerals Known As EyePrint Prosthetics

EyePrintPRO™ is an optically clear prosthetic scleral device designed to match the exact contours of the individual eye providing the best vision and comfort possible.
